Enrolment in a Higher Year Under the Transition Criteria
The conditions for direct enrolment into a higher year of a selected study programme are published in the individual Calls for Enrolment, which can be found at the provided link.
A transition between study programmes allows you to enrol directly into a higher year of the chosen study programme. Before enrolment, a professional staff member of the Student Affairs Office, together with the Head of Department, will assess the possibility of enrolment based on your previously completed study obligations.
The conditions are defined in greater detail in the “Criteria for Transitions Between Study Programmes” available on Regulations page.
Conditions for Enrolment in a Higher Year (ECTS Credits)
To enrol directly in a higher year based on a transition between study programmes, you must meet the following conditions regarding the ECTS credits obtained in your previous study programme:
- Enrolment in the 2nd year (1st and 2nd cycle): You need at least 45 ECTS credits. At least half of these credits must come from competencies or learning outcomes that are comparable to the competencies or learning outcomes of the compulsory courses in the programme you wish to enter.
- Enrolment in the 3rd year (1st and 2nd cycle): You need at least 105 ECTS credits. At least half of these credits must come from competencies or learning outcomes comparable to those of the compulsory courses in the programme you wish to enter.
For the 3rd cycle (doctoral studies), the transition criteria additionally require:
- For direct enrolment in the 2nd year: Prior submission of the doctoral dissertation proposal in the first or second study programme.
- For direct enrolment in the 3rd year: Prior approval of the doctoral dissertation proposal in the first or second study programme.
The Student and Academic Affairs Commission (KŠŠZ) decides on transitions between study programmes. In the transition procedure, the KŠŠZ obtains the relevant opinions:
- Transitions between 1st and 2nd cycle programmes: An opinion is obtained from the Head of School or the Vice-Dean for Student and Academic Affairs.
- Transitions between 3rd cycle programmes (Doctoral study): An opinion is obtained from the Head of the Research Unit.
